With Cinco de Mayo on the horizon, I knew I needed to step up my game and get some Mexican food on the blog. Looking back, it seems like forever since I posted any which, for me, is crazy to think of.
I used to make Mexican food 2 to 3 times a week and if you search the blog you will find a TON of Mexican-inspired recipes.
I just can't help it. I am addicted to it! I grew up in Southern California so Mexican food is all but in my blood.
Butttttttttttt I now live with someone that isn't a huge fan, so I just don't make it as much as I used to. Ha, just wait for the next week or two, that will change! I may be gorging myself on leftovers, but I will be a happy happy girl!!
I decided to start at the beginning.
You gotta have a good sauce for your food, right?
I mean when you BBQ you need your sauces right?
Italian food too!
And Mexican food is the same.
There is the chipotle mayo and Hatch green chile sauces I used for these Crispy Chipotle Shrimp Burritos and the cheesy chile sauce for this Poblano Chicken recipe. A good sauce can make or break a Mexican dish.
This is a sauce that I have used for soooooo many different dishes.
It is awesome with burritos, tostadas, enchiladas, and tacos, and it couldn't be any simpler to make. I love food that you don't have to work hard for don't you? I would much rather be feeding my face than chopping ingredients for 30 minutes!
Plus, this sauce can cross over to other cuisines. It works really well with Asian dishes.
I use it with fish or stir it into rice (or better yet, quinoa), and I have been working on some fusion-style food.
Hint hint, wait until you see what I have in store for you on Sunday. Hellooooooooooooo major yumminess! This works really good as a dip for veggies too!
Add a bit of jalapeno if you want a little kick.

FAQS ABOUT CILANTRO LIME CREMA
What kinds of dishes should I use Cilantro Lime Crema on?
This is a very versatile sauce. It goes well with just about anything you can imagine. Beef, pork, chicken, and fish. Veggies as a dip. The options are really limitless!
How long will this Cilantro Lime Crema last in the refrigerator?
I would say up to 5 days if it is in an airtight container.
Can I freeze Cilantro Lime Crema?
I would not suggest freezing this crema. Freezing can change the consistency of dairy and make this sauce a bit unappealing.
Last thoughts about Cilantro Lime Crema
There is not much more I can say about this crema.
It works as a condiment for just about any dish you could try it on from Mexican-inspired, to Asian, Indian, etc.
It is one of my favorite dips for fresh veggies. Bell pepper, broccoli, cauliflower, and more.
It stores in the fridge well, and only has 1 net carb per serving!
You really can't beat it when it comes to flavor, versatility, or cost.
That last one was a big thing to me since we used to buy the cilantro lime crema from Costco all of the time.
So plan your menu and then add this crema to give your dishes that little extra sumthin!!
