I know I have mentioned that I am hosting the fam for Thanksgiving this year, and how excited I am about doing it. Oh, trust me, the nerves will kick in though. I drive Kevin absolutely bonkers with the whole stress thing. He just doesn't get it.
I can hear him already, "You asked to do this!".
I know, I know.....it is just that when it gets right down to the wire I tend to freak out because I want everything perfect.
That is my Mother coming out...Oy!
Thanks Mom, you couldn't just leave me china and silverware? You had to leave me your perfectionist issues too? No disrespect meant......I love you Mom...*sigh*
But she did, she left them to me, and no matter how hard I try, and tell myself I won't do it this time, when it gets right down to it......Aaaahhhhhhhhhh and there really isn't much anyone can do to stop me. I will spin out of control for a while.....stress.....stress......stress.....and then all of a sudden BOOM I am done and all is calm.
Ya, I know but it is the truth.
But, let's leave my holiday neurosis aside shall we?
Let's get down to this recipe.
This recipe is something yummy that reminds me of my Grandmother.
She always made amazing food for the holidays, and her homemade cranberry relish was the BOMB.com!! None of that canned jellied stuff just this fresh cranberry yumminess!
Then a couple of years ago, I decided to tinker with it a bit. Just a tiny bit.
We love heat, so I thought, "Hhmmmm, why not add a bit of heat the relish?". I mean you have tangy, and sweet, heat just kinda fits right in there right?
Of course right!
But seriously, it really really does.
Kevin wasn't real sure about the whole idea (shock right?), but once he tasted it he was a believer!
With all of the rich, heavy food that can be on a holiday plate, this sweet heat combo cuts right through and lets all of the flavors shine
PLUS it is bombdidileeicious on a leftover turkey sammie!!
