This twist on the traditional orange juice mimosa results in a bright, but tart, herbal drink. Perfect for a special brunch and the pretty pink color with the green of the rosemary is a show stopper.
Brunch, aahhhhh probably one of my favorite words ever. I could literally brunch every weekend and never get tired of it.
Of course, brunch requires a special drink. I mean that is brunch 101 right?
I know that usually translates into bloody Marys or mimosas. For me, it is usually mimosas. I just love the citrus flavor and the bubbles. Bubbles just make me happy 😃
This year I decided I wanted to come up with some new cocktail ideas and, with Mother’s Day coming up, I knew a twist on my fave brunch drink would be the first this to work on so I decided to take one of my favorite cocktails, the greyhound. I love the tartness of pink grapefruit juice so it just seemed natural to me.
But what else do I add? Something that will just give it that little punch of YUM that will make it a special drink.
I love herbs, and rosemary it one of my favorites.
Funny story, I had a pet goat, Blaze, that I had bottle fed from a week old and potty trained (yes I said potty trained). He would go out and play with the dogs and then come in and lay on the sofa with Mom.
Blaze loved rosemary too. I had a huge rosemary bush in my backyard and Blaze discovered it. One day he came running in and jumped up in my lap. I got the hint of rosemary so I sniffed his muzzle at the same time he burped.
He was so busted. But it is hard to put a goat in time out.
Now I have a dog that eats my chives 🙄
What is it with my animals and my herbs??
Back to the awesomeness that is these mimosas….
I love, love, LOVE the bright, slightly puckery (is that a word?) flavor of pink grapefruit. I drink pink grapefruit tonic waters, soft drinks, you name it. If it is pink grapefruit I am down with it.
But I know some people aren’t fans.
That’s OK pretty much any citrus goes well with rosemary.
How about Rosemary Lemonaid Mimosas?
Hmmmmm that sounds pretty awesome too!
The bones of this drink it the simple syrup, and it is UBER easy to make and lasts for about 10 weeks in the fridge.
BONUS it will be a part of some other yummy cocktails I am working on 😉
Now, if you are working on your Mother’s Day menu I have a few suggestions for you. These are tried and true family faves that I know your Mom (or you) will enjoy!
First off Loaded Breakfast Totchos are always a crowd pleaser. I mean, what is there not to like about tater tots with sausage, cheese, eggs, and gravy?
Not a damn thing that is what!!
Another that I am hoping my family will make for me *hint hint* is this
