About Me

Welcome! It is so nice to meet you. My name is Bobbi. I am the Mom of 2 great kids, and Nana to 3 amazing littles. I share my life and home with my awesome partner Kevin, and 2 furbabies, a Pyrador named Sia, and a Boxer/GSD Mix named Hawk.

I am also a cancer survivor.

That battle prompted me to look at food in a different way. I began a journey to change the way I ate. To add fresh fruits, veggies, and herbs, and ditch the highly processed foods.

My desire is to show my family, and yours, that cooking simple delicious food is easy. I want to bring you tried and true recipes, using real food, that you are comfortable making.

Navigating the food world right now can be pretty crazy right? I know, I have been there and holy diet craze Batman! It is nuts!! Paleo, raw, gluten free, low carb, low fat……to juice, or not to juice, that is the question. Or rather, one of what seems like an endless stream of questions when it comes to what you should be feeding your family. It is seriously enough to have me pulling my hair out, or sending me screaming into the arms of a tub of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream!

But I am not here to just share recipes, I am here to share a bit about me, my experiences, and my crazy family. I love to share stories that show you what it is like in my house when I plop a bowl of cauliflower rice down in front of them.

You will get to know Mr. Grumpy aka The Complainer (my boyfriend Kevin), Miss Picky Pants (my daughter Jessi), The G-baby (my granddaughter Kylee), as well as the rest of the bunch, and travel with me on my voyages trying to feed them all.

Along the way I have been lucky enough to be featured on Parade, Esquire, Better Homes and Garden, Good Housekeeping, Shape, Foodie, Community Table, American Profile, Delish, and Relish. I also have recipes in The Casual Veggie Cookbook.

I didn’t grow up in a “foodie” family. My Mom had a hand full of “go-to” dinners. Monday night Meatloaf, and Tuesday night Tuna Casserole, etc. Many of her recipes called for canned soups, and the sides consisted of processed boxed foods, or we had TV dinners. All of which were high in sodium and/or carbs. Many of my comfort foods ended up revolving around those items. Mac and Cheese (yes the blue box folks), cream of mushroom soup, etc. I hated just about anything in vegetable form and refused to eat them.

In 2010 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I had been in school full time but ended up having to drop out due to surgeries and recovery time. I am now cancer-free, but during my recovery time, I started searching for healthy recipes that tasted wonderful but didn’t require a culinary degree to prepare them. Little by little fresh herbs and veggies took over in a kitchen that had been more accustomed to seeing fast food and Hamburger Helper.

And guess what? My family actually liked it. Scratch that, they loved it. Who knew?

In 2011 Bobbi’s Kozy Kitchen was born, thanks to my kids pushing me to do it. I honestly thought they were crazy. Who in the heck would want to read my ramblings, or eat my food? But I soon found you, my online foodie family, fell in love, and that was that! Now I can’t imagine what I would be doing other than this. Cooking has become a passion for me. I used to say I lived to eat, now I live to feed the people I love.
