I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with my husband, Kevin, and our furbaby Sia, a delightful Pyrador (half Labrador, half Great Pyrenees). Despite navigating life with chronic health conditions, I stay active by exploring my love of cooking, canning, and planning a wheelchair-accessible raised bed garden!
Family means everything to me. My two grown children and three incredible grandkids are my world. They’ve been my biggest supporters, toughest critics, and a constant source of inspiration in the kitchen.

About My Recipes
Most recipes on my site utilize whole foods without processed sugar and are low-carb; many are gluten-free, too, and packed with flavor. I strive to create dishes that are easy to make, use accessible ingredients, and are loved by everyone—whether they're following a low-carb lifestyle or not.
Many of my recipes are inspired by cherished family meals, my Southern roots, and a deep love for reinventing comfort food classics. My mission? To prove that low-carb eating doesn’t have to be bland or boring—it can be vibrant, fun, and utterly satisfying!
History & Experience With Food
Food has always been a central part of my life, shaping both my personal journey and my professional path. But it hasn’t always been easy.
I grew up in a home where dieting and appearance took center stage. My mother put me on my first diet at just one year old, and those early experiences created a complicated relationship with food. Coupled with financial struggles that left food availability uncertain, I developed an eating disorder in my teens and battled chronic health issues later in life.
However, at my grandparents' home, I discovered the joy of real, home-cooked meals. They poured love into everything they made, and that’s where my passion for cooking began. Many of my recipes today are inspired by those treasured moments in their kitchen.
After years of yo-yo dieting and battling chronic pain, I reached nearly 290 pounds. Gastric bypass surgery helped me lose weight but didn’t address the root issue: my mindset around food. Through a lot of soul-searching, I began to heal, embracing food as nourishment and a source of joy rather than something to fear.
Why I Love What I Do
My recipe-writing journey started in 2010 during my recovery from a double mastectomy. Food became my creative outlet and a way to focus on health and healing. My kids encouraged me to start blogging, and before I knew it, what began as a personal project blossomed into a full-blown website with thousands of readers.
When I discovered keto in 2018, I was frustrated by the lack of flavorful, accessible recipes, so I set out to create my own. Today, while I’ve shifted to a more flexible, moderately low-carb lifestyle, my passion remains the same: helping people create meals they feel good about—without sacrificing taste or joy.
