🥘Keto Red Velvet Waffles Ingredients
These are the ingredients necessary to make Keto Red Velvet Waffles.
- Cocoa Powder - Feel free to use whatever cocoa powder you prefer. These waffles are fabulous with the lighter cocoa powder as well as the dark chocolate version.
- Cream Cheese - I use both regular cream cheese as well as whipped cream cheese in this recipe.
- Xanthan Gum - This helps bid the waffles together since they do not have any gluten in them.
A detailed list with measurements and instructions can be found on the printable recipe card at the bottom of the page.
🔪Keto Red Velvet Waffles Instructions
This is a basic breakdown of the steps involved in making Keto Red Velvet Waffles. You will find the full directions in the recipe card at the bottom of the post.
Combine all of the waffle ingredients in a blender.
Scoop about 1/4 cup batter into the waffle maker.
Spread with a spatula or a spoon.
Cook according to manufacturer instructions (usually about 4 to 5 minutes), or until steam is no longer coming out the sides.
Helpful Hint: 💡: For a perfect waffle release, make sure to generously coat your mini waffle maker with non-stick cooking spray before each batch. This will ensure that your red velvet waffles come out with those beautiful crisp edges!
🍽Equipment
This is the equipment you will need to make Keto Red Velvet Waffles.
Storage
- Refrigeration: Allow the waffles to cool completely. Store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
Freezing:
- Cooling: Ensure the waffles are completely cooled before freezing.
- Single Layer Freezing: Lay the waffles in a single layer on a baking sheet and freeze until solid.
- Stacking: Once solid, you can stack the waffles with parchment paper in between to prevent sticking.
- Airtight Container or Bag: Transfer the stacked waffles to an airtight container or a zip-top freezer bag.
Reheating:
- Toaster or Oven: Reheat the waffles in a toaster or oven at a low to medium setting until warmed through and crispy.
- Microwave: For a quicker option, you can use a microwave, but the waffles may lose some crispiness.
Remember to adjust the reheating time based on your appliance and personal preference. Enjoy your delicious Keto Red Velvet Waffles!
💭Top tip
To achieve the ideal consistency for the batter, let it rest for a few minutes after blending. This allows the coconut flour to absorb the liquids, giving you a thicker batter that results in fluffy, not soggy, waffles. Patience is the key to waffle perfection!
FAQ about Keto Red Velvet Waffles
Yes, you can! If you don't have a mini waffle maker, you can use a regular waffle iron or even make them as pancakes on a griddle.
The red food coloring is optional, but it adds the classic red velvet look. If you prefer not to use it, you'll still have delicious chocolate waffles.
Unfortunately, almond flour and coconut flour behave very differently in recipes. It's best to stick with coconut flour for the right texture in these waffles.
