✨ Grilled Salmon with Strawberry Salsa: A Fresh Take on Your Catch! 🐟🍓

    👩‍🍳 Recipe Highlights:

    • Freshly grilled salmon fillets seasoned with a vibrant Mexican blend
    • Topped with a homemade sugar-free strawberry jalapeño salsa
    • Perfect blend of spicy and sweet, ideal for spring and summer meals

Living on the bounty of the sea has its perks, especially when the fisherman of the house brings home a variety of fresh catches like salmon, cod, and halibut. My husband, an avid fisherman, usually prefers his fish simply seasoned and grilled. However, this year, I've taken it upon myself to add a splash of creativity to our seafood dishes.

Inspired by a spontaneous desire for something both spicy and sweet, I crafted a delightful strawberry salsa last year. Its bold flavors were so captivating that I instantly knew it needed to be paired with more than just chips. When my husband brought home his next salmon catch, it was the perfect opportunity to test my culinary experiment.

I rubbed the salmon with our always-ready Mexican seasoning blend, grilled it to perfection, and then topped it off with generous spoonfuls of the strawberry salsa. The result? A heavenly meal that elevated our simple grilled fish into a festive and flavorful feast.

We loved this dish so much that we enjoyed it two nights in a row, and I've already bookmarked it for my Mother's Day dinner. It’s not just a meal; it's a celebration of the fresh and the flavorful, bringing together the fruits of the sea and the garden in one delicious dish.

So whether you're a seasoned angler or simply a lover of good food, this Grilled Salmon with Strawberry Salsa is sure to inspire your next kitchen adventure. Dive into the fresh flavors and let each bite take you to a place of culinary delight!

    • Salmon Fillets - Buy center-cut if you can so all of the fillets are a similar thickness.
    • Mexican Seasoning Blend - This versatile seasoning blend is perfect for grilling fish, chicken, pork, or beef!
    • Sugar-Free Strawberry Salsa - This is the crowning glory of this recipe, don't leave it off.

A detailed list with measurements and instructions can be found on the printable recipe card at the bottom of the page.

🔪Grilled Salmon with Strawberry Salsa Instructions

This is a basic breakdown of the steps involved in making Grilled Salmon with Strawberry Salsa. You will find the full directions in the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

Cook the fish untouched for 5 to 6 minutes. Carefully flip the filets and cook the other side for about 2 minutes, or until grill marks appear.

Helpful Hint: 💡: To maximize the flavor and freshness of your strawberry salsa, prepare it just before serving the grilled salmon. If you do need to make it ahead of time, keep the diced strawberries and dressing separate and mix them together no more than an hour before mealtime.

    🍽Equipment

This is the equipment you will need to make Grilled Salmon with Strawberry Salsa.

    • measuring cups and spoons
    • grill
    • grill pan
    • BBQ brush
    • BBQ tongs
    • fish spatula

    Storage

For the best quality and freshness, here’s how you can store your Grilled Salmon with Strawberry Salsa:

    Salmon:

    1. Refrigerate: Store leftover grilled salmon in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
    2. Freeze: If you need to store it longer, wrap the salmon tightly in plastic wrap, then in aluminum foil, and place in a freezer bag. It can be frozen for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight before reheating.

    Strawberry Salsa:

    1. Refrigerate: Keep the salsa in a covered container in the refrigerator. It’s best enjoyed fresh, ideally within 1-2 days, as the strawberries will begin to soften and release juices, which might make the salsa watery over time.

    Reheating and Serving:

    • Reheat the salmon gently in a covered skillet over low heat, adding a splash of water or extra virgin olive oil to prevent it from drying out. Alternatively, you can reheat it in the microwave at half power, using short intervals, until just heated through.
    • The strawberry salsa is best served cold or at room temperature, so simply take it out of the fridge about 15 minutes before serving to allow it to come to a more palatable temperature.

These storage instructions will help maintain the texture and flavor of your dish, ensuring that leftovers are just as enjoyable as when freshly made.

    💭Top tip

Try to find center-cut salmon fillets so they are all the same thickness. Salmon fillets that are one inch thick or less will take about 8 minutes on the grill. Thicker fillets will require 10 to 12 minutes. You can cook the salmon for less time if you want the center of the fish to be rare.

FAQ about Grilled Salmon with Strawberry Salsa

What is the best type of salmon to use for grilling?

For grilling, it's best to use fresh, firm-fleshed salmon like King, Coho, or Sockeye. These varieties hold up well to the high heat of the grill and have a rich flavor that pairs beautifully with the strawberry salsa. Avoid using thin fillets which may overcook easily.

Can I make the strawberry salsa ahead of time?

Yes, you can prepare the strawberry salsa up to a day in advance. Store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator to maintain freshness. The flavors will meld together nicely over time, enhancing the overall taste of the salsa.

How can I ensure my salmon doesn't stick to the grill?

To prevent sticking, make sure your grill is very clean before you start. Oil the grill grates and the salmon generously before cooking. Also, let the salmon cook undisturbed for the recommended time before flipping it once, using a thin spatula. This helps to create a sear that prevents sticking.
