🥘Keto Chocolate Chip Coffee Ice Cream Ingredients
These are the ingredients necessary to make Keto Chocolate Chip Coffee Ice Cream (Sugar-Free).
- Unsweetened Coconut Milk - I have used coconut milk in a carton and canned coconut milk. If you use canned coconut milk make sure to use an immersion blender to combine the liquid and the hard cream.
- Keto Powdered Sweetener - I use this monk fruit and allulose blend, or you can use this powdered allulose. I don't suggest using erythritol (Swerve) as it will crystalize and make your ice cream texture unpleasant.
- Sugar-Free Chocolate Chips - The three sugar-free brands I like to use are Lily's, ChocZero, or Bake Believe.
A detailed list with measurements and instructions can be found on the printable recipe card at the bottom of the page.
🔪Keto Chocolate Chip Coffee Ice Cream Instructions
This is a basic breakdown of the steps involved in making Keto Chocolate Chip Coffee Ice Cream (Sugar-Free). You will find the full directions in the recipe card at the bottom of the post.
In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the coconut milk and powdered sweetener until it begins to boil.
Remove from the heat and whisk in the instant coffee and vanilla extract until the coffee granules have dissolved.
Turn the ice cream maker on and pour the mixture in and let it churn for about 25 min (or to the manufacturer's directions).
Transfer ice cream in an airtight container (or cover with foil or cling wrap) and place in the freezer for at least 2-3 hours.
Hint: To enhance the coffee flavor, you can experiment with different types of instant coffee. Try using flavored instant coffee like mocha, hazelnut, or caramel for a unique twist. Alternatively, you can also use espresso powder to intensify the coffee taste even further.
📖Variations
- Hazelnut - Infuse the ice cream with a delightful nutty flavor by adding a tablespoon of sugar-free hazelnut syrup or a few drops of hazelnut extract.
- Mocha Almond - Enhance the chocolate and coffee flavors by adding a tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder and a handful of chopped almonds to the ice cream mixture. The combination of rich mocha and crunchy almonds creates a delightful texture and taste.
- Cinnamon Dolce - Incorporate the warm and cozy flavors of a cinnamon dolce latte by sprinkling a teaspoon of ground cinnamon and a dash of nutmeg into the ice cream mixture. This variation adds a comforting and aromatic twist to your coffee ice cream.
🍽Equipment
This is the equipment you will need to make Keto Chocolate Chip Coffee Ice Cream (Sugar-Free).
Storage
Due to the composition of this keto ice cream, it may become quite firm when stored in the freezer. If you prefer a softer texture, follow this advice:
After freezing the ice cream for the recommended 2-3 hours, if you find it to be too hard, you can remove it from the freezer and allow it to sit on the counter uncovered for approximately 15 to 20 minutes. This brief period at room temperature will help the ice cream soften, making it easier to scoop and enjoy.
By letting it rest at room temperature, the ice cream will become more scoopable, allowing you to indulge in its creamy goodness without struggling to remove it from the container. Remember to keep an eye on it during this time to prevent it from melting too much.
For long-term storage, keep the ice cream in an airtight container or containers to prevent freezer burn and preserve its flavor. When ready to serve, repeat the softening process as needed to achieve your desired consistency.
💭Top tip
For an extra creamy texture, make sure to chill the mixture and heavy cream thoroughly before churning it in the ice cream maker. This step allows the flavors to meld together and results in a smoother consistency
FAQ about Keto Chocolate Chip Coffee Ice Cream (Sugar-Free)
Heavy cream provides a creamy and rich texture to the ice cream. However, if you prefer a dairy-free option, you can try using full-fat coconut cream instead. Keep in mind that this may impart a coconut flavor to the ice cream.
While an ice cream maker helps achieve the best texture, you can still make this recipe without one. After chilling the mixture, pour it into a shallow, freezer-safe container. Place it in the freezer and stir vigorously every 30 minutes for the first 2-3 hours. This will help prevent ice crystals from forming and create a smoother consistency.
Properly stored, this ice cream can be kept in the freezer for up to 2-3 weeks. However, for the best taste and texture, it is recommended to consume it within the first week.
