Can I ask you a question?
How many of you have kiddos that are uber-picky?
How many of you don't have an hour, or more, to spend in the kitchen to make a meal? Especially on a weeknight?
I feel your pain, and love to help!
I can remember having two picky eaters, that were starving but had a long list of things they wouldn't eat. Trying to get kids to football practice, golf lessons, Anime club, science club, homework done, and....oh ya...fed was so dang difficult.
It was enough to make me want to pull my hair out and run away to become the crazy cat lady somewhere.
Hey, at least cats aren't picky, right?
Now I have my granddaughter to deal with and OhhhEmmmGeeee can she be a picky one! But she loves her chicken strips!
My kids grew up in Southern CA, so they loved tacos in all forms, shapes, and sizes, and that was my secret weapon when it came to feeding them and feeding them quickly.
If I put it in a taco they would eat it.
Once I figured out that magic trick I applied it to just about everything.
Even leftovers, that they would normally turn their picky little noses up to, went into a taco and into their bellies with no complaint.
You see, those tacos?
Notice the slaw all nice and cuddled up with the chicken strips in the taco?
That is broccoli slaw and the only way I could get broccoli into my kids for years!
So, we have a kid, and Mom-approved meal checked off the list now!

Low Carb/Keto Adaptations
Since this recipe was posted I have gone low carb so many of you have asked for some low carb and keto ways to enjoy this recipe.
I am currently working on a keto crispy chicken strip recipe but, until that is available, you can use grilled or baked chicken strips in place of the frozen crispy strips.
If you would like to grab some frozen strips, Tyson does make a frozen unbreaded seasoned rotisserie chicken strip that would work really well.
The sauce in this recipe has been linked to my keto honey mustard sauce so there is no change needed there,
When it comes to tortillas you can go a couple of different ways.
- You can use my keto tortilla recipe. It is actually very close in texture to a corn tortilla and really good. They are very easy to make and have only 1 net carb per tortilla.
- Many supermarkets have low carb tortillas available for purchase. They are higher in carbs, but good if you are looking for items you can just purchase and go with.
- If you are looking for a low carb tortilla that has the same texture as a traditional flour tortilla I recommend Hero Bread's tortillas. They are a bit more expensive than the tortillas you will get at the store but, they are SO much better flavor and texture-wise!
🍽Equipment
This is the equipment you will need to make Honey Mustard Chicken Tacos:
Storage
Store any leftover Honey Mustard Chicken Tacos in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days.
I do not recommend freezing the leftover chicken tacos.
FAQ about Honey Mustard Chicken Tacos
You can always use regular coleslaw mix instead of the broccoli slaw but, if you want to make your own broccoli slaw you can just use the stalks of your broccoli julienned, along with some julienned carrot and shredded purple cabbage.
It depends on your keto lifestyle. If you are on strict keto you would not be able to eat the carrots in the coleslaw or use store-bought tortillas, but those are the only adaptations needed. If you are dirty keto or more low carb, this recipe is 100% acceptable as it is.
I place everything into its own airtight container. So chicken strips in one, broccoli slaw, in another, honey mustard sauce in another, etc. They can be safely stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. I do not recommend freezing the leftovers.

They look super delicious Bobbi! That honey mustard sauce looks super tasty with the chicken. And perhaps I need to remember stuff like this one day. Masking veggies into crispy chicken so the kids will eat, smart move 😉 I would devour those tacos (:

This looks amazing!! What would you suggest to serve on the side to make it a complete dinner? I'd love to add to next week's rotation!

Since the coleslaw is on the tacos I always feel like that counts as a side/salad so we love to do something like my mixed berry salad.
Mackenzie
These were soooo good! And so easy! My kids didn’t even complain about the Cole slaw. Will be making again.
