    • Bell Pepper - Any color is fine or if you like things a little spicy give jalapeno a try.
    • Keto Hamburger Buns - You can use these homemade keto buns or give these store bought buns a try.

    This is a basic breakdown of the steps involved in making Keto Sloppy Joes. You will find the full directions in the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

    Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef. Season with salt and pepper. Cook the ground beef, breaking apart with a meat chopper or spatula, for 5 minutes, until no pink remains.

    Step 2 of Keto Sloppy Joes Recipe - Browned ground beef with diced orange bell pepper placed in the center of the skillet. Cooking down the peppers for a deliciously flavorful and low-carb sloppy joe filling.

    Add the bell pepper and cook for an additional 3 to 4 minutes.

    Substitutions

    • Ground Beef - feel free to swap out the ground beef for ground chicken, turkey, pork, or for a vegan option you could use a plant based ground meat substitute.
    • Bell Pepper - if you are not a fan of bell pepper you can omit it or if you enjoy some spice try using a jalapeno or two.
    • Brown Sweetener - if you do not have brown sweetener you can use regular keto sweetener and add 1 tsp of molasses if you would like.

    📖Variations

    • Cheesy Delight- add a 1/4 of shredded cheese per sloppy joe for a cheesy version.
    • Vegan - swap out the ground beef for a plant based ground meat substitute and swap out the Worcestershire sauce for this vegetable umami sauce.
    • Veggies Gone Wild - add slice mushrooms and chopped zucchini for a veggie forward version.
