I am finally posting this recipe ??
I have been making this BBQ sauce (the regular version) for years, but just kept forgetting to post it.
This is hands down the favorite BBQ sauce of everyone, friends and family alike.
This is the BBQ sauce that people crowded into my kitchen to dip pieces of chicken into.
They couldn't even wait for it to be brushed onto the chicken!!
That is how damn good it is.
To be honest, I was a little worried to even tinker with it to make it low carb. I mean, do you mess with perfection?
But that fear was unnecessary.
It came out AMAZEBALLS!
Not only is it finger-lickin' good to the last drop, but it is SO damn easy to make.
It is just boil, mash, blend, strain, add a few things, and cook a little bit longer.
During BBQ season I have a jar of this in my fridge at all times!
I love to grill chicken to keep in my fridge for a quick lunch.
I make my Lemon Herb Chick salad a LOT, or even just chop it up to add to a bag of Ceasar salad, but I will cut it into strips and dip it in this sauce cold.
No joke!

But I have always been a big fan of purple anyway.
This sauce really makes sticking to the low carb lifestyle SO much easier during BBQ season.
When I first started living la vida low carb I chose to do it right at the beginning of BBQ season and I knew nothing really.
I told myself that all of the yummies I was used to noshing on were off-limits so, in my mind, that meant I had to give up everything.
DUMB!! I was sooooo dumb!
Did I lose weight?
Oh heck ya.
Was I happy?
Uuummm not really.
I watched everyone eating BBQ ribs and chicken, potato and macaroni salads, and even the sweets that are always present at a good BBQ.
I nibbled on my plain grilled chicken, munched on a few acceptable veggies dipped in ranch dressing, and at sugar-free jello, all the while telling myself I was OK with it.
I was NOT OK with it people!
I was sad and annoyed, and so envious of everyone.
Why did I wait a damn year to figure this crap out?
Sheesh I can be slow sometimes!
But now I am so glad that I can save you that misery by sharing the recipes that have made this year

Low Carb Blueberry BBQ Sauce
Ingredients:
- 2 cups fresh blueberries (can sub frozen thawed blueberries)
- 1 cup of water
- 1/4 cup sugar-free ketchup
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1/4 cup Besti Brown Sweetener
- 2 tablespoons organic balsamic vinegar
- 1 tablespoon liquid aminos
- 1 teaspoon pink sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon organic garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons ginger paste
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Instructions:
- Add blueberries and water to a medium pot over high heat and bring to a simmer. Cook until blueberries start to break down, about 6-7 minutes
- Mash blueberries well in the pan. Then let the blueberry mixture cool a bit and blend with an immersion blender (or transfer to a blender).
- Press blueberries through a mesh strainer. Add the sauce back to the pot and bring back to a simmer over medium heat.
- Add other ingredients and continue to simmer for 30 minutes, or until sauce is thick and coats the back of a spoon.
- Taste and season BBQ sauce with salt as needed.
- Allow sauce to cool. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Pink sea Salt? Or pink Himalayan Salt? Most sea Salt I’m familiar with is white or gray Celtic sea Salt.

Either because technically, Himalayan salt is a sea salt, even though it's mined like rock salt, it is the result of ocean deposits. So I should just say pink salt and that will alleviate any confusion.
